Riyadh Mansour, the Palestinian Authority representative at the United Nations, asked the UN Security Council, on Thursday, to take substantive steps against Israel, claiming that the Jerusalem government's decision to suspend its transfer of tax monies to the PA constituted a theft of PA money. Israel's suspension of the payments followed the PA's successful bid for full membership in the UN's Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO.
Mansour warned that if Israel did not stop what it was doing right away, the fragile situation in the area would deteriorate. He said that despite the anticipated United States veto of a motion for PA statehood in the Security Council, the PA would continue to work for a majority there. He noted that it took Israel twice to be accepted and said that's what the PA has to do.
