Residents and opposition activists in the central Syrian city of Homs reported, Thursday, that government snipers are firing on civilians from rooftops in the city's Baba Amr neighborhood and civilians continue to be killed. The Syrian Human Rights group told the Al-Arabiya network that nine people died from army fire on Thursday. The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told the Associated Press that troops were firing machine guns from tanks.

The reports come a day after the Damascus government signed an agreement with the Arab League in which it promised to remove its troops from cities it occupied.
