Most of the indices at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest gains in mixed trading on Thursday. The TA composite index closed at 989.59, up .56 percent, lower than the six tenths of a percent gain posted by the TA 100, which finished the day at 1,001.23, but higher than the .53 percent rise by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues to 1,106.52.
Leading the way was the Blue Tech index, which rose .88 percent to 269.95, including a 730.17 close by the biomed sector for a .41 percent gain. The media and communications stocks rose .27 percent to 874.14. On the other side of the coin, the insurance issues got hit for a 2.08 percent loss to 1,080.97, while the banks finished the day at 998.33, down .92 percent, to give the financial institutions a finishing figure of 934.59, down one and a quarter percent. The oil and natural gas stocks declined .97 percent to 1,126.69 and the real estate index closed at 283.09, down .57 percent..
