Sources in the Yitzhar high school that lost its state recognition say the Education Ministry’s decision was made due to the publication of the book “The Torah of the King,” a controversial book that has led to the arrest of leading rabbis.

“For the past year, the Education Ministry has been acting like an underground organization, doing everything in secret and refusing to expose its actions… Using ‘secret materials’ that one cannot mount a defense against… is the act of a non-democratic authority,” they charged. Ministry officials were leaning toward recognizing the high school after meeting with educators, but decided to rescind recognition after receiving material that they have refused to make public.
