The Education Ministry has announced that it will no longer recognize the Dorshei Yichudecha high school in Yitzhar, in an unprecedented step seen by many as the latest maneuver in a battle against rabbis viewed by the state as extremist. The ministry will also continue a funding cut for the Od Yosef Chai yeshiva.
Both decisions were made after the ministry received “confidential information giving a more encompassing view of what happens at the yeshiva,” Education Ministry staff said. Staff had previously met with heads of the schools to discuss the issue.
