The Knesset Interior and Environmental Protection Committee approved, on Monday, a bill to regulate escorts to voting booths for sick people and others who need assistance when voting in local council elections. Under the bill, polling committee secretaries would determine if a voter qualifies for help.

The multi-sponsor measure now goes to the Knesset for its first reading.
