President Shimon Peres, who initiated the efforts to establish the new medical in Tzfat, was the guest of honor, Sunday, as the school was dedicated and held its first classes. Peres joined Education Minister Gid'on Sa'ar and Planning and Budget Committee Chairman Emanuel Trajtenberg in attending the first class.
The president told the 130-member student body, "I look at you with appreciation for choosing the medical profession and for choosing to learn in in the Galilee." Peres was honored by two student representatives who started their medical school in Moldova and Hungary. The establishement of the Tzfat facility is allowing them to finish medical school in Israel.
