At least three people were dead, and more than 2 million were without power on Sunday morning, as a rare October blizzard blew through the northeastern U.S. The hardest hit areas were inland, with communities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New England reporting as much as two feet of snow. Heavy winds made travel hazardous in many areas, and authorities urged people to stay off the road if possible. Airports in many areas were either closed or had very limited traffic, delaying travel for people all over the U.S.
The storm is expected to strengthen as it heads north towards New England, forecasters said.
