Police are investigating the vandalizing of the grave of shipping magnate Sami Ofer in the Trumpeldor Cemetery in Tel Aviv, Thursday evening. Under the inscription "The sea in his heart, achievement in his spirit, the love of giving in his soul," someone spray-painted a price tag with the figure 100 shekels inside.
Ofer passed away in June at the age of 89. Three months later, his brother Yuli passed away at the age of 87. A few months before, the United States accused their ships of business contacts with Iran in violation of economic sanctions designed to fight the Tehran government's nuclear threat on Israel.
