Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted moderate to sharp increases on Thursday. The TA composite index rose 2.31 percent to 1,041.68, just below the TA 100, which closed at 1,055.71, up 2.33 percent. The Maof 25 most-capitalized issues finished the day at 1,168.52, up 2.46 percent and the mid-cap 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 rose 2.67 percent to 351.21.
Leading the way were the insurance issues, which jumped 5.67 percent to 1,236.48 as the financial institutions closed at 1,033.80, up 4.17 percent, including a 3.94 percent rise by the bank stocks to 1,097.37. The Ma'ala social concern index closed at 899.11, up 2.89 percent, followed by the media and communications stocks at 906.37, up 2.54 percent. Most of the technology stocks rose 2.38 percent to 280.38, while the biomed issues finished the day at 766.58, up 2.15 percent. The real estate index rose 2.35 percent to 298.76 and the oil and natural gas index rounded out the action at 1,155.52, up 1.74 percent.
