Supreme Court Hears Residents’ Appeal

The Supreme Court is hearing an appeal from medical residents, who say they should be allowed to quit their jobs en masse. A labor court ruled the mass resignations illegal, saying they violated the terms of the residents’ contracts.

The residents argue that by preventing them from quitting, the court is essentially forcing them to work, a situation some described as “21st century slavery.”
