Staff-sergeant Gilad Shalit left his family's home in the northern community of Mitzpeh Hila, Tuesday morning, apparently for a series of medical examinations, following last weeks release after 1,941 days of captivity at the hands of Hamas and its allies.

Shalit is expected to remain in the central part of Israel for the next few days.
