The Honenu legal-aid organization reported, Monday evening, that a soldier was arrested by military police, Monday morning, on suspicion of involvement in "price tag" vandalism against Arab and leftist targets, as well as a military base next to the Binyamin-region Jewish community of Beit El. The 20-year-old father of two from the Samaria (Shomron) region will be held until Wednesday morning, at which time he will be brought before a military judge.
Honenu attorney Adi Kedar, who is representing the soldier, said the detainee denies violating the law but can't disprove the allegations against him since the arresting officers did not cite a specific incident. According to Kedar soldier said that detectives also told him they also arrested Alex Ostrovski, the Binyamin resident detained a month ago, and Honenu spokesman Elchanan Groner, although that was not the case. Kedar expressed hope that the soldier would be released quickly, noting what he called, "a rise in the rate of false arrests of [area Jewish] residents which end in nothing."
