The cabinet approved, Sunday, a proposal by the ministers of Environmental Protection and Industry, Commerce and Labor to formulate a national strategy for environmentally-friendly development between 2012 and 2020. The plan is intended to assess the raw potential to the economy of a transition to a green economics and recommend ways of implement it.
The steps are expected to produce a billion shekels in output and save billions of shekels currently spent dealing with environmentall and health hazards. The assessment is due by May.
