Beilin Calls for Terrorist Barghouti's Release

Former Justice Minister Yossi Beilin called for the immediate release of terrorist leader Marwan Barghouti who has been sentenced to five consecutive life sentences and 40 years in prison for acts of terrorism, which killed and wounded multiple Israelis.

"We made a big mistake not to have him released on our own," said Beilin in an interview with Maariv news. He added that there will be °international pressure° to release Barghouti, commenting, "Why do we need it? We could release him now as part of the deal with Hamas. Barghouti is a political leader, not a terrorist... even if it led to the use of terror and was responsible for the second intifada." said Beilin.
