The official value of the shekel rose an average of .029 percent, Friday, in mixed trading against the other currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign exchange list, following Thursday's Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah holiday in Israel. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.646, up .33 percent from Wednesday's rate, while the Euro declined .177 percent to 5.0191 shekels.
The pound sterling was set at NIS 5.759, up .348 percent, while the South African rand fell 2.477 percent to .4449 shekels. The Australian dollar was fixed at NIS 3.7246, down .796 percent, while the Swiss frank rose .932 percent to 4.0847 shekels.
