A remand hearing is scheduled for Friday morning in the Petach Tikva Magistrates Court for 15 Israeli Arabs from the Haifa and western Galilee area who were arrested during a Thursday demonstration outside the Hasharon Prison, near Netanya, where security prisoners -including relatives of some of the demonstrators - are being held. Police will seek a five-day extension of their remand.
The detainees are being held on allegations of illegal assembly. There is evidence of incitement against some of them for incitement, including recordings of them calling for the abduction of more Israeli soldiers in the wake of the release of more than 1,000 security prisoners in exchange for soldier Gilad Shalit. One of the detainees is suspected of attacking police officers.
