Bloomberg to Dedicate New MDA Building Sunday Evening

Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York will officially dedicate the completely rebuilt and modernized Magen David Adom (Red Star of David) station in Jerusalem on Sunday evening, in memory of his father, William H. Bloomberg.  Mayor Bloomberg will be joined by Israel's chief rabbis when he affixes a mezuzah on the entrance to the facility. Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat will join and other officials will join Bloomberg in other aspects of the dedication.

According to a statement by the emergency service the newly-renovated building "features pedestrian walkways, access roads and separate parking levels for private automobiles and MDA emergency service vehicles, significantly improving Magen David Adom’s ability to get its ambulances on the road to answer urgent calls.  In addition to new quarters for crews, a training center and classrooms, offices and meeting rooms, there will be a new Dispatch Center, utilizing the latest GPS technology that can pinpoint every building in the city and its environs, as well as MDA’s groundbreaking “Motobridge” communications system that enables its staff to receive emergency calls and alerts online from every type of communications device."
