Histadrut Declares Grievance Against Supersol

The Supersol workers' committee and the Histadrut Labor Federation declared a work dispute against the grocery chain on Sunday. The chain's 12,500 workers are demanding immediate negotiations on a safety net for job security and execution of a grant to workers, accompanying a deal, announced last week, to transfer controlling interest in the chain from IDB Holdings to British investor Leo Noe and the Isralom company.

The workers claim they were not given advanced notice of the deal and want to be assured in a timely fashion of IDB's preparedness to uphold its agreements with the workers before the deal's expected completion, in the coming weeks. Workers' committee chairwoman Ariella Sisu said she hoped the workers would not have to implement sanctions, as allowed two weeks after the declaration.
