National Security Council head Ya'akov Amidror said Sunday that there was “no chance” that the deal to exchange Gilad Shalit for over 1,000 terrorists would not take place as scheduled Tuesday. In an interview with Army Radio, Amidror said that the deal would be delayed “only if the High Court intervenes or someone in Gaza goes crazy.”
Amidror was responding to reports that on Israel Radio quoting Arab sources that said that there had been “complications” in the deal to exchange Shalit for over 1,000 terrorists. Israel Radio quoted Arab media reports as saying that 40 terrorists who are to be deported be sent away immediately, and not wait in Egypt until a visa to another Arab country can be obtained for them. The report said that Hamas has been discussing the issue with a number of countries, including Turkey and Qatar.
