Hamas turned Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit over to Egypt on Friday, according to the Egyptian daily Al-Masri Al-Youm. Senior Egyptian authorities say he entered Egypt via the Rafah crossing from Gaza.

Eyewitnesses say Shalit was taken in a black car that did not undergo any inspection, as is customary when senior Hamas officials go through the crossing.
