Report: Hamas Claims Israel Won't Touch Freed Prisoners

Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan claims that the deal to release abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit includes a clear committment by Israel not to harm any of the 1,027 security prisoners to be released, according to a Friday report by the London-based Arabic daily Al-Hayat. Hamdan's claim contradicts the words of Yoram Cohen, the head of the Shabak Israel Security Agency, that no commitment was made on the future of those to be released.

The  newspaper also reported that Hamas vehemently rejected an Israeli demand that it commit not to abduct Israeli soldiers in the future. Al-Hayat quoted "an informed source" as saying the terror group would use any method, including abduction, to obtain the release of the rest of the security prisoners.
