Chief of Staff Benny Gantz of the Israel Defense Forces visited the family of abducted soldier Gilad Shalit, Thursday evening, at their home in the western Galilee community of Mitzpeh Hila.

It was the first contact by the lieutenant-general since the announcement of the deal to free Gilad, after more than 1,900 days of captivity by Hamas and its allies.
