Shalit Deal to Address Hunger Striking Prisoners

Saleh Al-Aroury, the Hamas official in charge of issues involving prisoners held by Israel has announced that the deal to release abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit includes Israel meeting the demands of prisoners taking part in a hunger strike for about two weeks

Interviewed by Al-Quds television on Wednesday, Al-Aroury said that portion of the deal will be carried out after the release of 1,027 security prisoners for Shalit. He added that the demands to be met include the release of prisoners from solitary confinement and that families will be allowed to visit prisoners. Other demands include the continuation of higher education, not be restrained when meeting attorneys and other visitors
