If the government votes Tuesday night to approve a deal for the release of Gilad Shalit, the terms would be carried out in November. Ministers have been called for an urgent session to vote on the agreement.
Shalit was kidnapped in June 2006 by Gaza terrorists. He was transferred to the custody of Hamas, which has demanded the release of many hundreds of terrorist prisoners in exchange for his freedom.
The proposed deal up for vote was reportedly reached with the help of Egyptian negotiators.
