Bielski Calls for Emergency Session on Road Safety

Member of Knesset Ze'ev Bielski has sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, calling for an urgent cabinet discussion on the increase in traffic accidents. Bielski wrote, "The murder which continues out of control, on the highways, continues without an appropriate response," and cited "the serious statistics which indicate a significant increase in traffic deaths...." Forty-four traffic deaths were reported in September, compared with 25 a year ago.

The Kadima lawmaker called on the cabinet to act urgently and seriously, saying it appears that the government occasionally appears to take a fatalistic attitude to the problem. He added, "It's unthinkable that there be such an increase in the number of fatalities and nobody in the government of Israel expresses an opinion."
