Abbas Spokesman: We'll Keep Cooperating with Blair

Nabil Abu-Rudeinah, the spokesman for Chairman Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority (PA), announced, Thursday that the PA would continue to cooperate with special envoy Tony Blair of the Quartet of Middle East peace broker nations. Abu-Rudeinah called on Blair and members of the Quartet (United States, United Nations, European Union and Russia) to make an effort to require Israel to accept the Quartet's call for renewed negotiations on the basis of a stop to building in Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria and recognition of a PA state along the borders before the start of the Six Day War in 1967.

The announcement came only days after Abbas's political advisor, Nimar Hamad, called Blair a negative force in the Quartet and accused him of representing the Israeli government position.
