An American citizen has filed a lawsuit in a U.S. court demanding $20 million in compensation from Justice Minister Yaakov Ne'eman and Welfare Minister Moshe Kachlon, as well as two social workers, a Welfare Ministry employee and a public psychiatrist.
The man was married to an Israeli woman and they have three children. He claims that after their divorce she abducted the children to Israel and refused to give him parental rights, and that when he turned to Israeli welfare authorities, he encountered "an iron wall."
According to the lawsuit, the authorities encouraged his ex-wife to file spurious complaints of violence against him, which led to recurring arrests lacking any justification. The behavior of the welfare authorities and Israeli courts constitute "institutional torture and crimes against humanity," the lawsuit charged.
