The Ministry of Justice will soon be submitting a bill to the Knesset that would prohibit the police from releasing information from its investigation files to the public.
The move was initiated after the picture of singer Margalit Tzanani and details of her investigation were leaked to the media. It was initiated by an Israeli law firm that contacted the justice minister in August, demanding that the law be changed to provide effective tools to prevent leaks, create deterrents and impose on the media an obligation to refrain from publicizing such information.
