Hundreds of Israel Railways passengers were stranded for hours Monday afternoon, when a train got stuck between Lod and Kiryat Gat. Passengers at the Be'ersheva, Kiryat Gat and Lod stations were affected. Passengers at the Be'ersheva and Kiryat Gat stations were offered alternative transportation by Israel Railways. Passengers at Lod, a major transfer point to several destinations, said that no alternatives were offered there – leaving hundreds of angry passengers to wait for service to begin again.
Israel Railways said in a statement that the delays were due to a technical problem, and that solutions were provided for all passengers, either with alternative trains or buses.
