Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta of the United States said, Monday, that the US was and is against the release of Jonathan Pollard, who is in the 26th year of a life sentence for passing classified information from the United States to Israel.

During a news conference at the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv, he said the issue has been sensitive for a long time.
