The National Labor Court ordered the government, Sunday evening, to complete the submission of its arguments at 9:00 a.m. Monday, regarding its request for an order blocking medical residents from resigning their internships at hospitals around the country. The court gave the interns until noon to file their response. The court will meet and issue a ruling in the evening if the two sides cannot come to an agreement before then.
The interns are dissatisfied with the way they are covered in a recent collective-bargaining agreement between the government and the Israel Medical Federation. The court ruled weeks ago that a mass resignation by the interns was illegal. The state contends that individual letters of resignation constitute a collective effort which should also be declared illegal.
