The Bahai gardens in Haifa were dubbed the first Wonder of Israel in a public poll. Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav said in response that the gardens are “one of the greatest gifts Haifa was given,” and noted that three years ago the site was named the “Eighth Wonder of the World” by the UNESCO world heritage committee.
The other six “Wonders of Israel” are: the Dead Sea, the Kotel (Western Wall), Masada, the coral reefs of Eilat, the stalagmite and stalactite cave in Sorek, and the park in Caesarea.
