Male soldiers must not listen to female singing, the Instructional Institute on Public Matters head by the Rabbi of Kiryat Arba – Hevron, Rav Dov Lior, has decided.
The Institute met Monday evening to discuss the matter, which is in the headlines after Officer Course cadets were booted from the course for refusing to sit in the audience at a show in which female singers took part.
"The IDF is the people's army and it is its duty to give honorable expression to the moral path in which the Nation of Israel has trod for generations on end. Central Halakhic decisors in the mainstream Halakhic establishment forbid listening to a woman singing.
