Simchon Afraid Trajtenberg Won't Benefit Periphery

Industry, Commerce and Labor Minister Shalom Simchon said, Monday, that he was concerned Israel's peripheral areas won't come out on top as a result of implementing the recommendations of the Trajtenberg Committee on socioeconomic change as they relate to education, housing and the cost of living. The committee's preliminary report is scheduled for release at 5:00 p.m. Monday.

Speaking at a conference on a law for encouraging investment, the Ha'atzmaut party lawmaker said he hoped the committee's final report will be more balanced in favor of the periphery, adding that he could not be part of a government that does not address that sector.
