Thousands Expected for Selichot in Migron

Thousands are expected to go to the Binyamin-region Jewish community of Migron for pre-New Year penitential prayers after midnight, Sunday evening, under the banner "Awakening and Connecting in Migron". Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu of Tzfat will deliver a talk of reinforcement before singer Moshe Chabusha leads the traditional observance.

Organizers from the Komemiyut organization say the purpose of the evening is to connect the public with the community, which has seen seven buildings demolished by the government in recent weeks, as well as with other Jewish communities in the area. It is also being treated as a memorial for members of Israel security forces who were killed during attacks by Gaza-based terrorists on the Sinai border near Eilat on August 18th.
