Shekel, Euro Up


The official value of the shekel rose an average of .079 percent, Friday, in mixed trading against most of the currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.712, down .242 percent from Thursday's rate, while the Euro rose .268 percent to 5.0183 shekels.

The pound sterling was set at NIS 5.7267, down .183 percent, and the South African rand fell 1.304 percent to .4467 shekels after hitting a 26-month low on Thursday.
