Iran’s judiciary has agreed to the release of American hikers Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer once they have posted bail. An attorney for the two said the country of Oman had offered to pay the bail, which was set at $500,000 each.
The hikers’ release may be delayed until next week due to the fact that the presiding judge in their case is on vacation.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recently told U.S. media that Fattal and Bauer would be freed within days. However, the Iranian judiciary delayed the release in what was widely seen as a power struggle between Ahmadinejad and more conservative opponents.
