Chairman Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority (PA) says that there's a majority on the United Nations Security Council that support the PA's bid for recognition as a sovereign state, according to a Tuesday-morning report by Ash-Sharq Il-Awsat.

Abu-Mazen told the London-based Arabic daily, "We know there are nine countries that support us and we do not believe they would change their position when voting."
