German Jewish Students to Mark 50 Years Since Eichmann

Hundreds of Jewish students from Germany are scheduled to go to Budapest this weekend under the auspices of the Jewish Agency to mark the 50th anniversary of the Eichmann trial and meet with Holocaust survivors who testified against the Nazi war criminal. The weekend is being conducted in the framework of an annual student conference for youth have taken part in experiential programs in Israel.

The students are scheduled to discuss in remembering the Shoah, its implications on society in Germany and Israel, and the influence of these matters on Jewish identity for the young generation of German Jews. The Jewish community in Germany has grown from 15,000 right after World War II to more than a quarter million, most of whom emigrated following the breakup of the Soviet Union.
