All of the major indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted gains on Sunday. The Tel Aviv composite index rose .98 percent to 949.10, slightly better than the TA 100, which closed at 964.47, up .95 percent. While the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues rose .69 percent to 1,064.11, the mid-cap stocks outside the TA 100 rose 1.46 percent to 648.35
Leading the way were the insurance issues, which finished the first trading day of the week at 1,041.05, up 4.94 percent, offsetting a 2.19 percent loss by the banking sector to give the financial insitutions a .05 percent gain to 916.25. The biomed stocks jumped 2.83 percent to 664.87, while the other technology stocks closed at 259.62, up .38 percent. The real estate index climbed 1.37 percent to 257.21 and the Ma'ala organization's "socially responsible" stocks closed at 809.15, up 1.27 percent. The media and communications index rose .18 percent to 815.72, while the oil and natural gas index finished the day at 892.11, up .09 percent.
