Israel's embassy in Amman reopened Sunday, after workers took a weekend off in order to avoid what was supposed to be a huge demonstration and march by Jordanians against the embassy. Witnesses said that some 200 demonstrators showed up for what had been a “million man march,” and police kept them at least a kilometer away from the embassy at all times.

Diplomats said that the event showed that King Abdullah's regime was still strong, and was able to control forces in the country seeking an “Arab Spring” revolution to unseat the government.
