Susan Rice, the United States ambassador to the United Nations, said, Thursday evening, that the U.S. government is not involved in any effort to tone down the language of the Palestinian Authority's bid to the world body for recognition as an independent state. The application is tentatively scheduled to be introduced to the U.N. next week.
Speaking to Jewish media, Ambassador Rice said, "We're not negotiating any text. We're not engaged in efforts to water down the text." She repeated the American position that the statehood bid was unproductive, adding that the U.S. would vote against it and urged other nations to do so.
