The Interior Ministry's Population and Immigration Authority may file charges against Aviva Weinstein, the wife of Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein, for the illegal hiring of a foreign worker. The authority finished its investigation on Thursday and submitted its findings to the State Prosecutor's Office.
The worker left the country a few months ago, after being questioned. The authority has not been able to make contact since, and may rely on information taken from the questioning. If convicted, Mrs. Weinstein faces a fine of tens of thousands of shekels. She told investigators she thought the worker was legal, based on documents he presented but could not even provide them with his full name when they asked her for contact information.
