Syrian government television said, Sunday, that it would soon broadcast an interview with an Israeli spy who had been arrested by Syrian security forces. The SANA Syrian news agency identified the alleged spy as an officer who defected and was in Turkey, but it was not clear whether he was extradited by the government in Ankara or whether he was kidnapped by Syrian forces.
The news agency said that during the interview, the alleged spy will tell how he and others received instructions from spies sent to sew dissent against the Damascus government. It said the arrested spy will deal in the plot against Syria and how he assisted the assassination of senior Hizbullah terrorist Imad Mughniyeh. The announcement marks the first time during the anti-government unrest that the anti-Assad demonstrations have been directly blamed on Israel. Shortly after the Mughniyeh elimination, reports surfaced that the car bombing that took his life was an inside Syrian job.
