Trajtenberg to Propose Reforms in Taxation & Education

The Trajtenberg committee, appointed by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu (Likud) last month to examine ways to implement socio-economic reforms, is expected to recommend new education and taxation policies, Channel 2 News reported Wednesday night.

In taxation, the committee will advise the government to raise taxes on the stock market and on Israel's wealthy.

In education, Channel 2 reported, the committee will propose a longer school day and funding for increased supervision and regulations on day care institutions.

The committee is also expected to advise the government to grant fathers of young children benefits only given to mothers at present.
