US & Turkey Agree to Deploy Radar Defense System

United States officials and the government of Turkey have signed a memorandum on the deployment of American-made radar systems as part of a NATO-backed missile defense system, Ankara's Zaman website reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the agreement was signed by the Turkish Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Feridun Sinirlioğlu and U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Francis Ricciardone. The X-band radar is expected to be deployed on a military base in Malatya.
