Report: 13 Hamas Cells Caught in Judea and Samaria

The Shabak Israel Security Agency cooperated with the Israel Defense Forces and Israel Police to uncover and catch 13 Hamas terror cells in Judea and Samaria in the last six months, according to a report released Tuesday by the Intelligence and Terror Information Center. The report says the cells were in various stages of preparing attacks in Hevron and Jerusalem.

The interrogation of the dozens of Hamas agents arrested in recent months shows that an emphasis was placed on kidnapping people to be used as bargaining chips, although attacks with large numbers of casualities were also planned, including a Hevron cell's bombing of a bus station near Jerusalem's Binyanei Ha'uma Convention Center, which killed a British tourist and wounded dozens of others. Intelligence gathered from the prisoners also indicated the involvement of terrorists already in custody, as well as terror sources abroad.
