Jerusalem police are investigating an incident of vandalism at the Katamon-neighborhood home of a senior activist in the extreme leftwing group Shalom Achshav (Peace Now). When the activist left her home, Monday morning, she discovered that someone had spray-painted "Pay the Price for Migron" on her front door, referring to the government's demolition of homes in the Binyamin-region Jewish community, last night and last week. Peace Now has led the efforts to remove the Jewish community from the strategic hilltop, not far from Jerusalem.
The group claims the hallway was completely damaged and that "Peace Now the end is near," was among the graffiti sprayed there. Peace Now said the discovery required emergency steps against what it says appears to be a new Jewish underground. A statement by the group said, "An atmosphere of hatred and fervor is trickling down from government officials and the Knesset, deeply into Israeli society and threatens to harm all those who oppose government policy and building in the settlements."
