Following the midnight demolition of three homes in Migron, MK Yaakov “Ketzaleh” Katz is proposing a more humane approach. If a court has ordered the destruction of homes, the demolition should be carried out in daylight hours, says Ketzaleh, who proposed a law to that effect on Tuesday.
Nighttime demolitions have been criticized before. Victims of nighttime expulsions have stated that their children were terrified by being woken at night by strangers.
Police and IDF commanders generally prefer nighttime demolitions in Judea and Samaria Jewish communities in order to catch residents off guard and prevent resistance.
